Oakland Sweeps Swimming and Diving Athlete of the Week Honors

ELMHURST, Ill. - Oakland's Alex Aceino and Johanna Gustafsson were named Summit League Swimming and Diving Athletes of the Week for his performance during the week of Jan. 4-10.


MEN
Alex Aceino, Oakland
So., Midlothian, Va./Midlothian
Aceino captures his second career Swimming and Diving Athlete of the Week award and his first of the season after recording four event wins as Oakland defeated Eastern Michigan, 184-116. Individually, he won the 100 Fly and 200 Fly with times of 50.10 and 1:54.02, both shy of his league-best times set earlier this season. Aceino was also part of the first place 200 IM Relay (1:31.32) and 400 Free Relay (3:04.57) teams.

WOMEN
Johanna Gustafsson, Oakland

Gustafsson garners her second career Swimming and Diving Athlete of the Week honor and her first of the season after capturing three event wins and a second-place finish that helped Oakland past Eastern Michigan, 151-149, ranked 22nd in the mid-major poll. On her own, she won the 100 Breast and 200 Breast with times of 1:05.32 and 2:21.70, both shy of the league-best she set earlier this season. Gustafsson was also part of the first place 200 IM Relay team with a time of 1:46.72 and the second place 400 Free Relay team that gave Oakland the victory over Eastern Michigan in the final 100 yards of the race.
