Oakland Sweeps Swimming and Diving Athlete of the Week Awards for Second Straight Week

ELMHURST, Ill. - Oakland's Matyas Keresztes and Chelsea Oates were named Summit League Swimming and Diving Athletes of the Week for their performances during the week of Jan. 11-17.


MEN
Matyas Keresztes, Oakland

Keresztes garners his first career Swimming and Diving Athlete of the Week award after recording two event wins, helping Oakland, ranked 20th in the mid-major poll, defeat Cleveland State (128-113), No. 4 in the poll, and Xavier (176.5-54.5), receiving votes in the poll. Individually, he won the 100 Free with a time of 45.67 and placed third in the 200 Free with a time of 1:41.94, the fifth-best league time this season. He also anchored the first place 200 IM Relay team that recorded a time of 1:32.99.

Oates captures her fifth career Swimming and Diving Athlete of the Week honor and her first of the season after winning the 1-meter and 3-meter dive, helping Oakland defeat Cleveland State (146.50-96.50), ranked 15th in the mid-major poll, Xavier (183-54), who is receiving votes in the poll and Duquesne (151.50-85.50). As the reigning Summit League 1-meter Diving Champion, she posted a season-best 300.75 points in the 1-meter, the best league score this season and won the 3-meter with a score of 300.83. Oates currently holds the second-best league score in the 3-meter with a mark of 310.05 points in the Golden Grizzlies win over Eastern Michigan.
