Oakland Sweeps Swimming and Diving Athlete of the Week Honors
ELMHURST, Ill. - Oakland's Amr el Sayed and Marcella Barretta
were named Summit League Swimming and Diving Athletes of the Week
for their performances during the week of Jan. 18-24.
MEN
Amr el Sayed, Oakland
Fr., Alexandria, Egypt/El Abasego
El Sayed earns his first career Swimming
and Diving Athlete of the Week award after recording two event
wins, helping Oakland to a first-place finish at the Kenyon Quad.
He won the 1,000 Free with a time of 9:27.53 and the 500 Free in
4:34.14, the third-best league time this season. El Sayed
currently holds a league-best time of 9.26.28 in the 1,000 Free,
set earlier this season.

Barretta garners her first career Swimming and Diving
Athlete of the Week honor after winning the 1-meter and 3-meter
dives, setting a school record and league-best in both events and
qualifying for NCAA Zone Qualifiers on both boards. She helped the
Golden Grizzles to a second-place finish at the Kenyon Quad, with a
score of 310.05 on the 1-meter and 332.95 on the 3-meter.
