IPFW's Gaines, NDSU's Carlson Named Co-Players of the Week
ELMHURST, Ill. - IPFW's Frank Gaines and North Dakota State's
Eric Carlson were named Summit League co-Players of the Week for
their performances during the week of Jan. 25-30.

Gaines garners his first career honor after coming off the bench
and averaging 19 points in 25 minutes per game in a pair of
Mastodon victories. In the win over Centenary, Gaines scored 19
points and pulled down seven rebounds. Two nights later, Gaines
helped IPFW complete its first sweep of Oral Roberts by scoring 19
points and totaling a career-high four blocked shots. For the week,
Gaines shot 70.6 percent from the floor and was a perfect
three-of-three from beyond the arc and 11-of-11 at the free throw
line.

Carlson receives his first career award after averaging 25.5
points and seven rebounds per game in a pair of Bison wins. In a
19-point performance against Southern Utah, Carlson connected on
seven-of-nine field goal attempts and converted all five free
throws. Two nights later, Carlson posted a career-high 32 points
and 12 rebounds in a double-overtime victory over UMKC. In the
game's second overtime, Carlson scored on a putback with seven
seconds left to break an 85-85 tie and later assisted on the
game-winning layup with a lob pass off a sideline inbounds play
with 1.7 on the clock.
