ELMHURST, Ill. - South Dakota's Thad Stoddard and Lizz Hoffman were named The Summit League's Swimming and Diving Athletes of the Week for their performances Dec. 6-12.
MEN'S ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Thad Stoddard, South Dakota
Sr., Douglas, Wyo./Campbell County
Stoddard earns his first career Swimming and Diving Athlete of the Week honor after winning three individual events and helping USD to a 1-1 record on the week. He started the week off leading the Coyotes to a 151-80 win over Morningside with a first-place finish in the 100 Free, setting a pool record time of 48.01. The senior then won the 200 Free (1:55.44) and 100 Fly (56.58) against SDSU with school and pool records in both events. He was also part of three winning relay teams on the week. Stoddard is ranked in the league's top 10 in five events (50 Free, 100 Free, 200 Free, 100 Back and 100 Fly).

WOMEN'S ATHLETE OF THE WEEK

Hoffman collects her fourth career Swimming and Diving Athlete of the Week award and second of the season after leading the Coyotes to a 1-1 record on the weekend with six individual event wins and two school records. The senior opened the weekend the against future league opponent Nebraska Omaha with first-place finishes in the 50 Free (24.08), 200 Free (1:52.86) and 200 IM (2:07.68). Her times in the 200 Free and 200 IM rank in the league's top five this season. She then led her squad to a 135-108 win over league rival South Dakota State. Hoffman tallied three more event wins in the 100 Free (58.14), 200 Free (2:06.98) and the 400 Free (4:26.83), setting a school and poll record in the 100 Free and a school record in the 400 Free. She ranks in the league's top four in five individual events (50 Free, 100 Free, 200 Free, 500 Free and 200 IM), including first in the 50 Free.
