Oakland Sweeps Final Swimming and Diving Athlete of the Week Awards

ELMHURST, Ill. - Oakland's Matt Systma and Shelby Porter were named Summit League Swimming and Diving Athletes of the Week for their performances during the week of Feb. 8-14.


MEN
Matt Sytsma, Oakland
So., Byron Center, Mich./Byron Center
Systma earns his first career Swimming and Diving Athlete of the Week award after recording four top-three finishes at the Michigan USA Open. He finished second in the 100 Free (46.55) and third in the 50 Free (21.22), 200 Free (1:43.45) and 100 Fly (51.55). All four of Systma's times broke into the league's top 10 on the season, while also setting career bests in all three freestyle events.

Porter captures her first career Swimming and Diving Athlete of the Week honor after recording three top 10 finishes at the Michigan USA Open. She ranks sixth in the league in the 200 Breast with a time of 2:24.82 set earlier this season at the Miami University Invitational.
