UMKC's Ott and WIU's Campbell Earn Player and Pitcher of the Week Awards

ELMHURST, Ill. - UMKC's Emily Ott and Western Illinois' Ashley Campbell were named Summit League Softball Player and Pitcher of the Week for their performances during the week of Feb. 14-20.


PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Emily Ott, UMKC

Ott captures her first career Player of the Week award after leading the UMKC offense to a 2-2 record at the Austin Peay Spring Classic. She recorded four multiple hit games, including opening the weekend with back-to-back 3-for-3 games against Belmont and Austin Peay. In the Kangaroos' 7-6 win over Cleveland State, the right fielder went 2-for-4 with a double, one RBI and one run scored. To end the weekend, she went 2-for-3 at the plate with her third double of the tournament. For the weekend, Ott hit at a .769 clip (10-for-13) and 1.154 slugging percentage with three doubles, a triple, four RBI, two stolen bases and one run scored. Her career batting average of .380 is the best all-time in UMKC history.

PITCHER OF THE WEEK
Ashley Campbell, Western Illinois

Campbell earns her first career Pitcher of the Week honor after recording a 2-0 record at the Tiger Invitational. The right-handed hurler threw a complete game shutout against Western Carolina and fanned five batters. She then pitched in relief against Auburn giving up a walk and four hits in 4.2 innings pitched. To end the weekend, she pitched 4.2 innings in relief in the Leathernecks' 5-2 win over Campbell, striking out four batters and picking up her second win of the season. For the weekend, Campbell recorded 10 strikeouts with a 0.43 ERA, holding her opponents to a .182 batting average in 16.1 innings of work.
