IUPUI's Volz, IPFW's Kiefer Named Players of the Week

ELMHURST, Ill. - IUPUI's Nick Volz and IPFW's Caterina Kiefer
were named men's and women's player of the week as announced by The
Summit League's for their performances Feb. 22-28.
Nick Volz, IUPUI

Volz claims his second career honor, both this season,
after posting a singles win and doubles victory in IUPUI's triumph
over Dayton. Playing the No. 2 singles position, Volz bested UD's
Joe West, 7-6 (4), 7-6 (3), for his fourth win of the season. At
No. 2 doubles, Volz teamed with Joel Modesitt and claimed an 8-4
victory over the Flyer tandem of West/Salcedo, their fifth doubles
win of the season.

Kiefer earns her first career award after posting
identical 3-0 records in both singles and doubles play. Playing the
No. 4 singles position, Kiefer notched straight-set victories over
Bradley's Adele Henke (6-4, 6-4) and Green Bay's Maria Anderson
(6-3, 6-3) and rallied for a three-set win over Milwaukee's Sammi
Schoen (4-6, 6-2, 6-1). At No. 2 doubles, Kiefer teamed with Alex
Forsyth for a sweep of BU's Henke/McDonagh (8-2), UWM's Soule/Skemp
(8-7 (3)) and UWGB's Weuve/Nelson (8-5). Kiefer owns a 13-match win
streak in singles play and has a 13-2 singles record and 10-6
doubles mark.
