ORU's Trukshanin and IPFW's Recht Named Players of the Week

ELMHURST, Ill. - Oral Roberts' Mikhail Trukshanin and IPFW's Amy Recht were named men's and women's tennis players of the week as announced by The Summit League for their performances March 15-21.

Trukshanin earns his first award of the season and second of his career after opening league play with a singles and doubles victory. In ORU's 4-3 win over South Dakota State, Trukshanin posted a 6-4, 6-4 straight-set triumph over SDSU's Justin Pyle at the No. 1 singles position. In doubles play, Trukshanin teamed with Igor Sobolta for a 9-8 win over SDSU's tandem of Baron and Pyle. With his victories, Trukshanin improved to 2-3 in singles play and 3-2 in doubles competition this spring.

Recht collected her second award of the season and 10th career accolade after amassing an identical 4-0 record in both singles and doubles play at the league-opener cluster in Las Vegas. Playing the No. 1 singles position, Recht defeated Centenary's Isadora Bickham (6-3, 6-3), Southern Utah's Ksusha Nazorova (7-6 (3), 5-7, 6-2), UMKC's Eva Dalvai (7-5, 6-3) and Oakland's Caitlin Young (6-0, 6-2). In doubles play, Recht teamed with Ingrid Ballus at the No. 1 spot for wins over CC's Bickham/Penney (8-1), SUU's Nzaorova/Tatarchenko (8-1), UMKC's Dalvai/Horner (8-2) and OU's Young/Dinicu (8-1). The three-time reigning Summit League Player of the Year, Recht has 19-4 records in both singles and doubles play this season. Her 10 career Player of the Week awards rank second in Summit League history and one shy of the all-time record.
