Wallenborn, Atkinson Collect Women's Soccer Weekly Awards

ELMHURST, Ill. – North Dakota State's Jordyn Wallenborn and Western Illinois' Laura Atkinson were named The Summit League's Women's Soccer Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week for their performances Sept. 24-30.

OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Jordyn Wallenborn, North Dakota State

Wallenborn earns her first career Offensive Player of the Week nod after leading the Bison to a 2-1 league win over South Dakota State in double overtime. The senior midfielder tallied both NDSU goals with her first, the equalizer, coming in the 81st minute to force overtime. She netted the match-winner with just 40 seconds remaining in the second overtime period for the win. For the week, Wallenborn had four points (two goals) on three shots and a match-winner.

DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Atkinson collects her fourth career Defensive Player of the Week honor and second this season. The junior helped the Fighting Leathernecks record a pair of league wins last week over Kansas City (4-1) and South Dakota (2-0). In the win over the Kangaroos, the Oregon, Wis., native made eight stops against nine shots on goal and then tallied four saves in the shutout win vs. the Coyotes. For the week, Atkinson made 12 saves and registered a 0.50 GAA and .923 save percentage. She also has a perfect 5-0 record this season and leads the league in GAA (0.41), save percentage (.900), wins (5) and goals against (2).
