WIU’s Abercrombie, OU’s Flynn Named Initial Swimming & Diving Athletes of the Week
ELMHURST, Ill. – Western Illinois' Matt Abercrombie and Oakland's Nikki Flynn were named The Summit League's Swimming and Diving Athletes of the Week for their performances Oct. 6-15, marking the initial awards of the 2012-13 season.
MEN'S ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Matt Abercrombie, Western Illinois
Fr. // Good Hope, Ill.
Abercrombie collects his first career Athlete of the Week award after recording three top-two finishes, including two event wins against Saint Louis. The Good Hope, Ill., native won the 500 Free (4:54.72) and the 200 IM (2:02.03) and finished second in the 1,000 Free (10:04.18).

WOMEN'S ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Nikki Flynn, Oakland
Fr. // Saline, Mich.
Flynn garners her first career Athlete of the Week honor after helping the Golden Grizzlies to a second-place finish at the Dennis Stark Relays. The freshman was a member of the winning 400 free relay team (3:33.45) and the second-place 800 free relay team (7:47.46).
Also nominated: Lizzie Hollopeter, Western Illinois.
