Oakland Sweeps Swimming and Diving Athlete of the Week Awards

ELMHURST, Ill. – Oakland's Grant Harding and Karin Tomeckova were named The Summit League's Swimming and Diving Athletes of the Week for their performances Nov. 6-12.

MEN'S ATHLETE OF THE WEEK         
Grant Harding, Oakland
Jr. // Guelph, Ontario
Harding earns his second career Athlete of the Week honor and first of the season after helping the Golden Grizzlies defeat Eastern Michigan, 159-139.  The junior won two individual events and helped his team to a pair of top-two relay finishes.  He won the 50 free with a time of 21.39 and the 100 free in 45.99, both league-best times this season.  Harding was also a part of the winning 200 medley relay team, that posted a league-best time of 1:30.84 and the second place 400 free relay squad (3:04.51), also recording the fastest league time this season.

WOMEN'S ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Karin Tomeckova, Oakland

Tomeckova claims her second career Athlete of the Week honor and second-straight this season after posting four first-place finishes against Eastern Michigan, two individual and two relay wins.  The freshman won the 100 back in 56.41 and 200 back in 2:01.66, both the fastest league times this season.  She was also a member of the winning 200 medley (1:45.68) and 400 free (3:32.13) relay teams, which recorded league-best times in both events.
