Nelson, Waytashek Earn Player of the Week Honors
ELMHURST, Ill. – IUPUI forward Kerah Nelson and South Dakota State forward Megan Waytashek were named The Summit League's Women's Basketball Players of the Week for their performances Dec. 3-9.

Nelson captures her second career Player of the Week award and first this season after recording a pair of 20-point performances for the Jaguars last week. In a one-point loss to a 6-1 Youngstown State squad, the senior forward scored 22 points on 10-of-18 (55 percent) shooting from the field in 32 minutes of action. Two days later, she tallied 25 points while grabbing six rebounds in a win over Western Michigan. The St. Petersburg, Fla., native has now scored at least 20 points in three-straight games. For the week, Nelson averaged 23.5 points, five rebounds, two steals, one assist and 0.5 blocks per contest. She shot 50 percent (18-of-36) from the field and 71 percent (10-of-14) at the free throw line while committing just three turnovers and one foul in the two games.

Waytashek earns her first career Player of the Week honor after leading the Jackrabbits to a pair of victories last week. In a win over Eastern Michigan, she scored a then career-tying 17 points on 6-of-10 (60 percent) shooting from the field with four steals. The sophomore forward had the game-winning layup with 9.7 seconds left to secure the win over the Eagles. In the road win at UNI, she set a new career-high with 23 points on 8-of-13 shooting with five rebounds. For the week, Waytashek averaged 20 points, four rebounds, two assists and two steals per game. She shot 61 percent (14-of-23) from the field, 62 percent (5-of-8) from 3-point range and 70 percent (7-of-10) at the free throw line.
