Hyde, O'Connor Named Players of the Week

ELMHURST, Ill. – Fort Wayne guard Amanda Hyde and Kansas City guard Eilise O'Connor were named The Summit League's Women's Basketball Players of the Week for their performances Nov. 26 – Dec. 2.

Hyde earns her first career Player of the Week award after scoring 43 points in a win at Southern Illinois last week. The 43 points placed her in a tie for second all-time in Summit League history, tied a school record and is the highest single-game total in NCAA Division I this season. She was 16-of-26 from the field, including 3-of-5 from 3-point range, and accounted for 55 percent of her team's points. She also added four assists and grabbed four rebounds in the win. Earlier in the week, the junior guard had 11 points, eight rebounds, three assists and three steals in a loss at Indiana. For the week, Hyde averaged 27 points, six rebounds, 3.5 assists and two steals per game with a 3.5 assist/turnover ratio. She also shot 51 percent (21-of-41) from the field, 57 percent (4-of-7) from behind the arc and 88 percent (8-of-9) at the line.

O'Connor captures her first career honor after being named to the Air Force Classic All-Tournament Team last week. In a win over host Air Force, she scored a career-high 30 points and dished out seven assists while shooting 56 percent (9-of-16) from the field. Her 30 points accounted for 45 percent of the Kangaroo offense. The junior guard followed that up with a 23-point, career-high 13-assist and five-rebound performance vs. Boise State. She connected on all four of her 3-point attempts against the Broncos. For the week, O'Connor averaged 26.5 points, 10 assists, five rebounds and 1.5 steals per game with a 2.9 assist/turnover ratio. She also shot 52 percent (15-of-29) from the floor, including 89 percent (8-of-9) from long-range.
