Oakland Sweeps Weekly Swimming and Diving Honors

ELMHURST, Ill. – Oakland's Anders Jensen  and Alyssa Busch were named The Summit League's Swimming and Diving Athletes of the Week for their performances Nov. 28-Dec.3.

MEN'S ATHLETE OF THE WEEK         
Anders Jensen, Oakland

Jensen captures his fifth career Athlete of the Week award and first of the season after posting two top-25 times in the nation according to USA Swimming, including the sixth-fastest 100 Back time, and two NCAA 'B' cuts.  The red-shirt senior led the Golden Grizzlies to a first-place finish at the EMU Invitational, edging out Eastern Michigan, the defending Mid-American Conference Champion, by three points.  Jensen won two individual events and was a part of three first-place relay squads.  He won the 100 Back in a pool and meet record time of 46.73, ranking sixth in the nation and first in the league.  The Copenhagen, Denmark, native also won the 200 Back with a time of 1.43.92, good for 24th in the nation and tops in the league.  He earned NCAA 'B' cuts in both the 100 and 200 Back and was 0.7 shy of a NCAA 'A' cut in the 100 Back.   Individually, he also recorded a league-best time in the 200 IM (1:49.56) with a fourth-place finish.  Jensen helped the OU relay teams win the 200 Free (1:24.05), 200 Medley (1:28.79) and 400 Medley (3:15.44), while recording pool and meet records with league-best times in the 200 and 400 Medley relays.

WOMEN'S ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Alyssa Busch, Oakland

Busch garners her second career Athlete of the Week honor and first of the season after recording two NCAA 'B' cut times and setting a meet record.  The senior won the 100 Back in a meet record time of 54.82 and finished second in the 200 Back in 1:58.83, both NCAA 'B' cut times.  Her 100 Back time marks the fastest league time this season and her 200 Back time ranks second in the league.  Busch was also a member of the second place 200 and 400 Medley relay teams recording league-best times of 1:44.16 and 3:45.93.
