WIU's Dispensa, Mascheri and NDSU's Anderson Earn Weekly Baseball Awards Baseball Media Center | Summit Points Blog | 30th Anniversary Season

ELMHURST, Ill. - Western Illinois' Dan Dispensa and Rich Mascheri and North Dakota State's Luke Anderson were named as The Summit League's Baseball Player and Pitchers of the Week for their performances Feb. 17-19, marking the initial awards of the season.


PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Dan Dispensa, Western Illinois
Jr., OF (Chicago, Ill./St. Rita)

Dispensa captures his first career Player of the Week award after batting .583 in the four-game set at Georgia State. In game one's win, the junior outfielder went 3-for-3 with three RBI and one walk and stolen base. He also had two hits in game four, along with one hit in each of the middle two games of the series. For the week, Dispensa was 7-for-12 (.583) with four RBI, three runs scored, three doubles, two walks and two stolen bases. He also had two sacrifices with just one strikeout.

PITCHERS OF THE WEEK
Luke Anderson, North Dakota State|
Sr., RHP (Savage, Minn./Dakota County Tech)

Anderson earns his first career Pitcher of the Week honor after collecting an 8-2 win over No. 5 Arizona. The senior went 7.0 innings, surrendering just two hits and two earned runs with three strikeouts. He recorded a 2.57 ERA and did not allow an extra-base hit. Anderson held Arizona batters to an .095 average and retired seven-straight to preserve a 2-2 tie through seven innings. The win was NDSU's first over a Division I ranked opponent in history.


Rich Mascheri, Western Illinois
Sr., LHP (Wauconda, Ill./College of Lake County)

Mascheri records his first career award after pitching seven scoreless innings in the opening game victory over Georgia State. The senior southpaw allowed four hits with five strikeouts to notch his first win and leading the Leathernecks to their first season-opening win since 2007.
