IUPUI's Mojsejev, USD's Soleymani Claim Weekly Honors

ELMHURST, Ill. - IUPUI's Ivan Mojsejev and South Dakota's Shadi Soleymani were named as The Summit League's men's and women's tennis players of the week for their performances Feb. 21-27.

Mojsejev earned his first career award after posting a 2-1 singles record during the week. Playing the No. 5 position, he posted a straight set victory over Bradley's Justin Abrams (4 and 3) to garner IUPUI's lone point in the dual match. Against Toledo, at the No. 3 spot, Mojsejev defeated Nick Wong, 6-3, 7-6 (5). In his final match of the week, Mojsejev moved into the No. 2 slot and claimed the first set before dropping his match in three to Xavier's Mesa Mei, 2-6, 6-3, 6-3. For the week, Mojsejev led the Jaguars in wins while accounting for two of his team's six points.

Soleymani nets her first career award after posting perfect 2-0 records in both singles and doubles play during the week. In singles play at the No. 3 position, Soleymani notched the clinching win over Southeast Missouri's Jessica Courtnell, 6-7 (1), 6-1, 6-2. In the next match, she scored a straight-set victory over Bradley's Meredith McDonagh (1 and 1). In doubles, Soleymani teamed with Alena Sergeychik at the No. 1 spot for wins over SEMO's Novikova/Nyenwe, 8-7 (8-5) and Bradley Mattson/Rodefeld, 8-7 (9-7).
