IUPUI’s Gauger, Oakland’s el Sayed and Grant Named Swimming and Diving Athletes of the Week
ELMHURST, Ill. – IUPUI's Mitchell Gauger and Oakland's Amr el Sayed were named The Summit League's Men's Swimming and Diving Athletes of the Week, while Oakland's Tricia Grant was named the Women's Swimming and Diving Athlete of the Week, for their performances Jan. 8-14.
MEN'S ATHLETES OF THE WEEK
Mitchell Gauger, IUPUI
Sr. // Kokomo, Ind.
Gauger earns his first career Athlete of the Week honor after four top-two finishes last week. The senior finished first in the 3-meter dive (293.32) and runner-up in 1-meter dive (271.05) in a tri-meet against Xavier and Ball State. He then posted two first-place finishes in a tri-meet against league foe Western Illinois and Saint Louis with a score of 286.60 in the 1-meter and a league-best score of 322.95 in the 3-meter. Gauger helped the Jaguars defeat the Leathernecks, 73-67.
Amr el Sayed, Oakland

El Sayed collects his fourth career Athlete of the Week award and first of the season after helping Oakland, No. 4 in the Mid-Major poll, defeat Cleveland State, No. 11 in the Mid-Major poll. The junior won all three events he competed in, two individual events and a relay. He won the 500 free (4:35.95) and 1,000 Free (9:30.19) and was a member of the winning 400 free relay team (3:04.16).

WOMEN'S ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Tricia Grant, Oakland

Grant captures her second Athlete of the Week honor this season and of her career after recording four first-place finishes in two meets last week. The sophomore helped the Golden Grizzlies defeat Akron with wins in the 1-meter (297.97) and 3-meter (300.60) dives. She then came back to win both events in a tri-meet victory against Cleveland State and Xavier with a score of 304.57 in the 1-meter and a league-leading and career-best 318.98 in the 3-meter.
