Oakland Sweeps Weekly Swimming and Diving Awards

ELMHURST, Ill. – Oakland's Anders Jensen and Vanessza Balogh were named The Summit League's Men's and Women's Swimming and Diving Athletes of the Week, for their performances Jan. 22-28.

MEN'S ATHLETE OF THE WEEK                                         
Anders Jensen, Oakland
R-Sr. // Copenhagen, Denmark
Jensen collects his sixth career Swimming and Diving Athlete of the Week honor and second of the season after helping the Golden Grizzlies defeat Michigan State, 177-121, with three individual event wins and a relay victory.  Individually, the senior won the 100 back (48.83), 200 back (1:47.08) and 200 IM (1:54.00).  In both the 100 and 200 back, Jensen defeated MSU's All-American honorable mention honoree Jacob Jarzen.  Jensen was also a member of the winning 200 medley relay squad with a time of 1:31.21.

WOMEN'S ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Vanessza Balogh, Oakland

Balogh garners her eighth career Swimming and Diving Athlete of the Week award and her first this season after winning five events, four individual and one relay, in two meets.  She won the 500 free (5:03.03) and 1,000 free (10:21.69) against Michigan State, along with a third-place finish in the 200 free and second-place in the 400 free relay.  She then posted two more individual event wins in the 500 free (5:07.69) and 1,000 free (5:07.69) and a relay win in the 200 free (1:38.28) in a dual victory over IUPUI.  With this Swimming and Diving Athlete of the Week honor, Balogh ranks third for awards in a career in league history.
