IUPUI's Bellamy, SDSU's Paluch Earn Weekly Honors

ELMHURST, Ill. – IUPUI guard Dee-Dee Bellamy and South Dakota State guard Steph Paluch were named The Summit League's Women's Basketball Players of the Week for their performances Dec. 9-15.

Bellamy collects her first career Player of the Week award after guiding IUPUI to a split of its games last week. In the program's first-ever road win at Indiana State, the Missouri Valley Conference preseason favorites, the senior guard was 5-of-8 from the field, finishing with 12 points, five rebounds, four steals and two assists. She hit a pair of free throws in the final 30 seconds to seal the win. In Sunday's loss to undefeated Indiana, Bellamy held Larryn Brooks, the fourth-leading scorer in the Big Ten, to 13 percent (2-of-16) shooting in the game. She added eight points, six rebounds, a career-high four blocks, three steals and two assists. For the week, Bellamy averaged 10 points, 5.5 rebounds, 3.5 steals, 2.5 blocks and two assists per game and was 8-of-18 (44 percent) from the field.

Paluch earns her second Player of the Week honor this season after leading South Dakota State to a pair of home wins over No. 12 Penn State and Central Michigan. The senior guard scored a career-high 18 points in the win over the nationally-ranked Lady Lions. She also grabbed two rebounds and recorded two assists in the win. In the win over Central Michigan, ranked No. 17 in the CollegeInsider Mid-Major Poll, Paluch added 14 points and grabbed four rebounds. For the week, she averaged 16 points, three rebounds and one assist per contest while committing just three turnovers from her guard position in the two games. She also shot 50 percent (4-of-8) from three-point range and was perfect (14-of-14) at the free throw line.
