Hyde, Luke Selected as Players of the Week

ELMHURST, Ill. – Fort Wayne guard Amanda Hyde and Western Illinois forward Ashley Luke were named The Summit League's Women's Basketball Players of the Week for their performances Nov. 25 – Dec. 1.

Hyde led Fort Wayne to a 2-0 week, including a win over nationally-ranked Michigan State. The senior scored 23 points and dished out seven assists in the victory over the 18th-ranked Spartans. Earlier in the week, she scored 41 points with eight rebounds and six assists in the win at SIU Edwardsville. Her 41 points were the most scored by a Cougar opponent and set a Vadalabene Center record. Hyde also tied league records of 18 free throws made and 21 attempted in the win. For the week, the guard averaged 32 points, 6.5 assists, five rebounds and two steals per contest. She went 17-of-28 (61 percent) from the field, 5-for-9 (56 percent) from downtown and 25-of-29 (86 percent) at the free throw line, while leading the league in scoring (21.4 ppg).

Luke collects her third career Player of the Week after guiding Western Illinois last week. In Saturday's overtime win over Saint Louis, the sophomore forward scored 23 points with 14 rebounds, four assists, four steals and three blocks. Down by six points with 51 seconds remaining in regulation, Luke had an assist and knocked down a pair of free throws to send the game into overtime. Against Eastern Illinois, she scored a career-high 29 points while grabbing 14 boards. She also added five steals, three assists and two blocks. For the week, Luke averaged 26 points, 14 rebounds, 4.5 steals, 3.5 assists and 2.5 blocks per game. She shot 63 percent (17-of-27) from the field and 78 percent at the line (18-of-23). Luke has recorded six double-doubles in eight games this season and leads The Summit League with 11.3 rebounds and 2.4 steals per game.
