Western Illinois' Maher Named Player of the Week

ELMHURST, Ill. – Western Illinois guard Michelle Maher was named The Summit League's Women's Basketball Player of the Week for her performances Dec. 23-29.

Maher captures her first career Player of the Week award after leading Western Illinois to an 80-74 win at Kansas City on Sunday. The sophomore guard scored a career-high 29 points on 10-of-18 (55.6 percent) shooting from the field. She tied her career-bests of five three-pointers (5-of-10) and six steals in the game. Maher added four rebounds and four assists with just one turnover as the Leathernecks recorded their sixth win this season. With her 29 points, she more than doubled her scoring average of 11.9 points per game entering the contest.
