Western Illinois' Luke Earns Player of the Week Honors

ELMHURST, Ill. – Western Illinois forward Ashley Luke was named The Summit League's Women's Basketball Player of the Week for her performances Feb. 11-17.

Luke earns her first career Player of the Week award after guiding Western Illinois to its first-ever series sweep of North Dakota State. Against the Bison, the freshman forward scored 18 points on 7-of-12 (.583) shooting from the field with 11 rebounds, two blocks and two steals. She also connected on all four of her free throw attempts. Two days later, Luke shot 71.4 percent (5-of-7) from the field with 11 points, three rebounds and two steals in a loss to South Dakota State. For the week, Luke averaged 14.5 points, seven rebounds, two steals and one block per contest, which were all above her season averages coming into the week. She also shot 63.2 percent (12-of-19) from the field and 83.3 percent (5-of-6) at the line in 28 minutes of action per game while committing no turnovers in the two games.
