UMKC's Broyles, UNO's Elsasser Earn Softball Weekly Honors
ELMHURST, Ill. – Kansas City's Liz Broyles and Omaha's Dana Elsasser were named The Summit League's Softball Player and Pitcher of the Week, for their performances Feb. 18-24.
PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Liz Broyles, Kansas City

Broyles earns her first career Player of the Week award after helping Kansas City to a 4-1 record last week at the Blues City Classic. The freshman went a perfect 4-for-4 in the win over Indiana State and was a home run away from the cycle against Nicholls State. She went 3-for-4 with two RBI and a run scored vs. the Colonels. The Blanchard, Okla., native added two more RBI in the win over Belmont. For the week, Broyles hit .667 (10-for-15) with a .611 on-base percentage and 1.067 slugging percentage. She had five RBI, three runs scored, two doubles and two triples for the week.

PITCHER OF THE WEEK

Elsasser collects her second Pitcher of the Week honor this season after contributing in all four Omaha wins at the Jackson State Tournament. In a 5-0 win over host Jackson State, the junior went seven innings and surrendered just two hits with six strikeouts and no walks. Also on Saturday, she pitched 1.2 innings of one-hit softball in relief for her first save of the season in a 6-5 win over Evansville. In the win over Evansville on Sunday, Elsasser went six innings, fanning two batters in the 9-1 victory. For the week, Elsasser went 2-0 with a 0.47 ERA, 12 strikeouts and one save.
