WIU’s Hall, DU’s Harder Named #SummitWSOC Players of the Week

ELMHURST, Ill. – Western Illinois' Sarah Hall was named The Summit League's Women's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week while Denver's Sam Harder was named the Defensive Player of the Week for their performances Oct. 20-26.

OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Hall earns her first career Offensive Player of the Week award after recording three of Western Illinois' four goals on the week. In Friday's win over Oral Roberts, the senior forward connected in the 32nd minute to give WIU a 2-0 advantage. After a pair of ORU goals, Hall scored the eventual game-winner in the 75th minute off a pass from Gina Scaffidi. She brought the Leathernecks to within a score after she tallied a goal in the 83rd minute of Sunday's 2-1 loss at IUPUI. For the week, Hall scored three goals off seven shots for a .429 shot percentage. She notched the game-winning goal vs. ORU and collected six points.

Harder collects her first career Defensive Player of the Week honor after leading a defensive backline to a pair of league shutouts. In Friday's win at North Dakota State, the senior defender helped limit the Bison to five shots with just one being on goal. The Pioneers then held Fort Wayne to only four shots in the 3-0 win. For the week, Harder anchored the defensive unit that surrendered a total of nine shots (4.5 shots/game) with just one being on target. Denver's defense has produced four consecutive shutouts and has a 438-minute scoreless streak.
