Fort Wayne Sweeps Initial Weekly Softball Honors
ELMHURST, Ill. – Fort Wayne's Kayti Hanson and Miranda Kramer were named The Summit League's Softball Player and Pitcher of the Week for their performances during the season opening weekend, Feb. 7-9. The awards mark the initial Player and Pitcher of the Week awards of the season.
PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Kayti Hanson, Fort Wayne

Hanson collects her first career Player of the Week award after leading the Mastodons to an undefeated (4-0) opening weekend, tying the school record for the best start to a season, and the Hampton Inn of Dunn Invitational title. The junior second basemen tallied at least one hit and one run in every game, including three multi-hit games and one multi-run game. Hanson opened the season going 2-for-3 with a RBI and a run scored as the Mastodons shutout the two-time Horizon League Champion, Valparaiso, 6-0. The Elk River, Minn., native saved her best performances for day two of the tournament. In the 9-3 win over UMass-Lowell, she was 3-for-4 with a pair of doubles, three runs scored, a RBI and a stolen base. In the weekend finale 5-0 shutout of Campbell, she was a perfect 2-for-2 with a double, a run scored and a RBI. For the weekend, Hanson posted a .667 batting average (8-for-12) with a .917 slugging percentage, .643 on-base percentage, three doubles, six runs scored, three RBI and a stolen base.

PITCHER OF THE WEEK
Miranda Kramer, Fort Wayne

Kramer earns her fourth career Pitcher of the Week honor after a pair of complete-game shutouts and a save at the Hampton Inn of Dunn Invitational. The Burlington, Iowa, native opened the season with a two-hit shutout over two-time Horizon League Champion, Valparaiso, fanning 14 batters. Later in the day, she struck out three batters in two innings of work to record a save against Seton Hall. In the tournament finale, the left-handed hurler tossed a one-hit shutout against Campbell, retiring 10 batters on strikes. For the weekend, Kramer struck out 27 and did not allow a single run, while yielding six walks, three hits in 16 innings of work for a 0.00 ERA, holding her opponents to a .060 batting average. She currently leads the league in ERA, strikeouts and strikeouts per seven innings.
