Summit League Names Softball Players and Pitchers of the Week
ELMHURST, Ill. – North Dakota State's Amanda Grable and Western Illinois' Sammy Marshall were named The Summit League's Softball Players of the Week, while NDSU's Krista Menke and Omaha's Dana Elsasser were named the Pitchers of the Week for their performances March 3-9.
PLAYERS OF THE WEEK
Amanda Grable, North Dakota State
Jr. // 3B // Santee, Calif.
Grable records her second career Player of the Week award and first of the season after helping North Dakota State shutout No. 22/17 Stanford 4-0, the Bison's fourth victory over a nationally-ranked opponent in the program's Division I era. The junior tallied at least one hit in all five games on the weekend with a trio of multi-hit games to end the tournament. She added a hit in NDSU's back-to-back 4-0 shutouts over BYU and Stanford opened the Louisville Slugger Classic. On day two of the tournament, the Santee, Calif., native went 2-for-4 with a pair of doubles and a RBI against BYU and was a perfect 2-for-2 with a double, a run scored and a RBI vs. UC Davis. In the tournament finale, she was 2-for-4 with two RBI and a run. For the weekend, Grable posted a .471 batting average (8-for-17) with three doubles, five RBI, two runs and a stolen base.

Marshall collects her fifth career Player of the Week honor and first of the season after recording multi-hit games against a pair of nationally-ranked opponents at the Courtyard Marriott Oklahoma Tournament and extending her hitting streak to a career-high 16-straight games. The shortstop went 2-for-3 with a triple, a run scored and a walk against No. 20/21 Tulsa, followed by a 2-for-3 performance vs. No. 19/13 Oklahoma. In the Leathernecks' 5-0 shutout over Liberty, the junior chipped in a triple and a run scored. On the week, Marshall tallied a .500 batting average (5-for-10) with a pair of triples, two runs and a walk. The Naperville, Ill., native has reached base safely in every game this season.

The senior threw a one-hitter against Dayton retiring seven batters on strikes. She struck out four more hitters in the tournament finale against Colorado State. For the week, Elsasser recorded a 0.00 ERA and held her opponents to a combined .114 batting average with 11 strikeouts, while allowing five hits and five walks in 13 innings of work.
