South Dakota’s Dinning, Fort Wayne’s Flenniken Earn Weekly Softball Honors
ELMHURST, Ill. – South Dakota's Katie Dinning and Fort Wayne's Megan Flenniken were named The Summit League's Softball Player and Pitcher of the Week for their performances March 10-16.
PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Dinning collects her first career Player of the Week honor after extending her hitting streak to 12 games with at least one hit in each of South Dakota's 10 games last week, including seven multi-hit games. She posted four consecutive games of two or more hits during the Coyotes six-game winning streak at the Rebel Spring Games. On March 11, the centerfielder recorded a pair of doubles and four RBI in a win over Howard and two hits, two RBI and a run in a victory against Bucknell. Two days later, she chipped in two hits, one RBI and one run vs. Indiana State followed by a 3-for-5 performance with two doubles, three RBI and three runs vs. Bucknell. In the tournament finale against Siena, the junior was a perfect 4-for-4 from the plate with a triple, two runs and one RBI. For the week, Dinning tallied a .526 batting average (20-for-38) with seven extra-base hits (five doubles and two triples), 14 RBI, nine runs and two stolen bases. She also recorded a .763 slugging percentage and .526 on-base percentage.

Megan Flenniken, Fort Wayne

Flenniken claims her second career Pitcher of the Week award and first of the season after going undefeated (3-0) with three complete-game shutouts. The senior opened the week striking out six batters in a 3-0 win over Evansville. Then, at the War Eagle Classic, she blanked Savannah State and Alabama A&M 8-0 giving up two hits in each game and striking out three Lady Tigers and seven Bulldogs. On the week, Flenniken struck out 16, while allowing nine hits, two walks and no runs in 18 innings of work for a perfect 0.00 ERA.
