WIU’s Holt, Smith Named #SummitXC Athletes of the Week
ELMHURST, Ill. – Western Illinois' Mark Holt and Lydia Smith were named The Summit League's Cross Country Athletes of the Week for their performances Sept. 9-15.
MEN'S ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Mark Holt, Western Illinois
Sr. // La Grange, Ill.
Holt earns his second career Athlete of the Week award and first of the season after recording a league-best 8k time of 25:55.9 at the Bradley Intercollegiate. The senior finished 12th to lead the Fighting Leathernecks.

WOMEN'S ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Lydia Smith, Western Illinois
Sr. // Canton, Ill.
Smith collects Athlete of the Week honors for the first time in her career after leading the Fighting Leathernecks with a three mile time of 18:20.8 at the Bradley Intercollegiate. She helped WIU earn its lone victory over Chicago State in the dual meet scoring.
Previous honoree: Sept. 2 – Erin Teschuk, North Dakota State; Sept. 9 – Brittany Beard, Fort Wayne/Amber Eichkorn, South Dakota.
