BROOKINGS, S.D. – The South Dakota State Jackrabbits won their second straight Summit League Women's Soccer Championship tournament Saturday afternoon as they defeated the No. 1 seed North Dakota State Bison by a 3-0 score. With the victory, SDSU receives the league's automatic berth into the NCAA Tournament.

Diana Potterveld scored her eighth and ninth goals of the season on her way to being named Tournament MVP and leading the Jacks to their third Summit League Tournament crown.

Madison Yueill sent a long, arching cross in the penalty area from the left side in the 17th minute that senior Dani Patterson was able to first-time on the volley and past the outstretched hands of NDSU goalkeeper Sierra Bonham. The goal was Patterson's third of the year and her first game-winner of 2015.

Late in the half, Potterveld was taken down in the box by a NDSU defender when the whistle blew to award SDSU a penalty kick. Potterveld calmly took to the spot and converted her third PK goal of the season, giving the Jackrabbits a 2-0 halftime lead. Potterveld would add an insurance goal in the 69th minute when she gathered a loose ball in the penalty area and sent it into the upper-right corner.

SDSU goalkeeper Nicole Inskeep recorded her league-leading eighth clean sheet and made five saves on the afternoon. It was the first time the Bison have been shut out since a 0-0 decision against SDSU on Oct. 18.

The loss ends the Bison's season after they earned their first Summit League regular season championship in program history.

Turning Point
With only a one-goal lead and the match nearing halftime, Diana Potterveld earned a penalty kick for the Jacks. She then stepped to the penalty spot and gave SDSU a 2-0 lead in the 43rd minute, sealing the Jackrabbits' second straight tournament title.
