NDSU Sweeps Season's First Softball Weekly Awards
ELMHURST, Ill. – North Dakota State’s Alex
Sobrero and Krista Menke were named The
Summit League's Softball Player and Pitcher of the Week for their
performances Feb. 2-8, marking the initial awards of the
season.

WEEK
Alex Sobrero, North Dakota State

Alex Sobrero earns her first career Summit League Player of the
Week award after leading NDSU to a 4-1 record in the season-opening
weekend at the Ramada UNI Dome Classic. Sobrero had three games
with three hits, including two home runs and six RBIs. In a 9-1
victory over the University of Iowa of the Big Ten, the senior went
three-for-three with three RBIs, two runs, a home run and a double.
For the week, Sobrero hit .500, scored seven runs and added four
stolen bases.

PITCHER OF THE WEEK
Krista Menke, North Dakota State

Krista Menke has been named Summit League Pitcher of the Week for
the 11th time in her career after her performance in the
opening weekend at the Ramada UNI Dome Classic. Menke opened the
season with a five inning no-hitter against Green Bay (Feb. 6), the
second of her career and the program's 26th overall. She
struck out 10 and walked four against the Phoenix. Menke also had a
two-hitter against Iowa (Feb. 7) and three-hitter against Drake
(Feb. 8). She matched a career-high with 14 strikeouts in the win
over the Bulldogs and has nine double-figure strikeout games in her
career. Menke also picked up her fifth career save in the 2-1 win
over Drake (Feb. 7).

Illinois.
