ELMHURST, Ill. – South Dakota State's Beatriz Souza was named The Summit League's Women's Tennis Player of the Week following her performance April 7-13.

Souza received her first award of the season and second of her career after compiling 2-0 singles and doubles records and leading her team to a pair of Summit League victories. In a 4-3 win over South Dakota, Souza teamed with Tacy Haws-Lay to clinch the doubles-point with an 8-5 win over Scott/Maslova at the No. 2 position. Souza won each of her singles matches in straight-sets, topping USD's Alice Scott (2 and 1) and Omaha's Allison Johnson (2 and 0) at the No. 5 position. She also scored an 8-4 doubles win alongside Haws-Lay over Omaha's Hill/Matricardi at No. 2. Souza improved to 4-1 in league singles matches and has won eight of her last 10 decisions.
