SDSU’s D’Agostino, WIU’s Marshall Named #SummitSB Players of the Week

ELMHURST, Ill. –South Dakota State sophomore Alyssa D’Agostino and Western Illinois senior Sammy Marshall have been named Summit League Players of the Week after their performances April 20-26.

PLAYER OF THE WEEK          
Alyssa D’Agostino, South Dakota State

Alyssa D’Agostino is named Summit League Player of the Week for the first time in her career and is the first player from South Dakota State to receive the award since 2011. D’Agostino led the Jackrabbits to a 6-1 week, including a three-game sweep of league foe Fort Wayne. The sophomore hit three home runs during the week, helping her team break the school’s single-season home run record. She also broke the SDSU single-season RBI record after driving in 14 runs this week while also extending her hitting streak to nine games.

Sammy Marshall, Western Illinois

Sammy Marshall earns her eighth career Summit League Player of the Week award and the first of the season after her record-setting week. The senior shortstop became the Western Illinois all-time hits leader after going 6-for-11 which brings her career total to 228. Marshall also moved into third place all-time in The Summit League with 160 runs scored. For the week, she hit .545 with a double, triple and three stolen bases and is currently riding a nine-game hitting streak.
