ELMHURST, Ill. – Western Illinois sophomore guard Taylor Higginbotham was named The Summit League Women's Basketball Player of the Week for her performances Jan. 2-8.

- Captured her first career Player of the Week honor
- Scored a career-high 28 points on 9-of-15 (.600) shooting with six rebounds and five assists in win over Denver
- Added 20 points, nine rebounds and three steals in the victory over league previously undefeated Oral Roberts
- Two wins lifted Western Illinois into a four-way tie for first place in league standings
- For the week, averaged 24 points, 7.5 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 1.5 steals per contest
- Shot 45.5 percent (15-of-33) from the field, 46.7 percent (7-of-15) from three-point range and 73.3 percent (11-of-15) at the free throw line

Celebrating its 35th season of Division I athletics, The Summit League features women's basketball teams from nine member institutions: Denver, Fort Wayne, IUPUI, North Dakota State, Omaha, Oral Roberts, South Dakota, South Dakota State and Western Illinois.
