WIU’s Tschida, UNO’s Binger Earn #SummitBSB Weekly Honors

ELMHURST, Ill. – Western Illinois utility player Chris Tschida was named Summit League Baseball Player of the Week, while Omaha's Corey Binger garnered the Pitcher of the Week award for their performances during the week of March 27 – April 2.


CHRIS TSCHIDA, WESTERN ILLINOIS
Sr. // UTL // Joliet, Ill.

  • Earned his second career Player of the Week award and first this year
  • Collected at least one hit in all four games last week with a pair of three-hit contests
  • Had two singles and a double in Saturday's win at Oral Roberts, snapping a 38-games losing streak in Tulsa
  • Added three hits (double, home run) with five RBI and two runs scored in a mid-week win over Robert Morris
  • For the week, batted .500 (8-for-16) with an .812 slugging percentage and .529 on-base mark
  • Totaled five RBI, two runs scored, two doubles, one homer and two stolen bases

  • Earned his third career Pitcher of the Week honor and first this season
  • Collected his third win on the year hurling a complete game shutout over North Dakota State
  • Had three strikeouts and issued no walks over seven innings for his third shutout on the year
  • Needed just 76 pitches and surrendered just two hits over the seven innings with over 68 percent of his pitches being strikes
