WIU’s Clemens Named #SummitWBB Player of the Week

ELMHURST, Ill. – Western Illinois senior guard Emily Clemens was named The Summit League Women's Basketball Player of the Week for her performances, Jan. 22-28.

  • Registered her eighth career Player of the Week honor and third this season
  • Finished one rebound shy of her second career triple-double in win over Denver with 39 points, 13 assists and nine rebounds
  • Her 39 points set a new career-high while the 13 assists tied her career-best
  • Added nine assists, eight points and five rebounds in win over North Dakota State
  • For the week, averaged 23.5 points, 11.0 assists and seven rebounds per contest
  • Shot 53.6 percent (15-of-28) from the field and 93.3 percent (14-of-15) from the free throw line

ABOUT SUMMIT LEAGUE WOMEN'S BASKETBALL
Through 35 years of Division I athletics, The Summit League features women's basketball teams from eight member institutions: Denver, Fort Wayne, North Dakota State, Omaha, Oral Roberts, South Dakota, South Dakota State and Western Illinois with North Dakota becoming an official member for the 2018-19 season. In 2016-17, The Summit League raised its RPI for the third consecutive year, finishing with an all-time best No. 11 ranking. The Summit League has sent at least three teams to the postseason nine straight years with three postseason tournament semifinal appearances the last four years, while recording the nation's best Division I winning percentage improvement since 2009-10.
