The Summit League Announces Week Eight men’s soccer awards

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – The eighth week of The Summit League men's soccer season has come and gone with spectacular performances from the entire league. Omaha swept this week's offensive and defensive awards as sophomore forward Diego Gutierrez and junior goalkeeper Ugo Tritz were named the offensive and defensive players of the week.
Gutierrez led the Mavericks on the offensive end with two goals in the Mavs' 2-1 win over Western Illinois. Gutierrez has been a Summit League offensive leader this year, ranking third in goals scored (7), fourth in assists (4) and third in total points (18). The Mavericks' junior goalkeeper only allowed one goal, while earning five saves against the Leathernecks. Tritz has put together a solid season in the net for Omaha, allowing the fewest goals goals (8), tallying the second best save percentage (.778) and the fifth-best mark in total saves (28) among league goalies.
Offensive Player of the Week

• Scored both of Omaha's two goals against Western Illinois and helped the Mavs' earn their second Summit League win of the season
• Had a perfect 2-for-2 shooting percentage against the Leathernecks
• Earned four points and the game winning goal in Omaha's lone match of the weekend
• He earned his second offensive player of the week award this season

Defensive Player of the Week

• Earned his third victory of the season and second Summit League win against Western Illinois
• The junior made five saves in the match and only allowed one goal
• He is tied for The Summit League lead for fewest goals allowed at eight
• Has a .778 save percentage this season
