The Summit League Announces the 11th Swimming and Diving Weekly Awards

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – The 11th edition of The Summit League swimming and diving weekly awards is here and each award winner finished with multiple first-place finishes in their respective events. South Dakota and South Dakota State split both the swimming and diving awards this week. The Coyotes Sabrina Sabadeanu and Sarah Schank won female swimmer and diver of the week for the second straight week while the Jackrabbits' Trever Brenner and Joey Weber each won their first swimmer and diver award of the season.
Female Swimmers of the Week
Sabrina Sabadeanu, South Dakota
Jr. | Commerce City, Colo.
• Sabadeanu won all four events she swam in and helped the Coyotes to a dual win over Omaha
• Her four wins came in the 100-yard backstroke (1:05.84), 200-yard backstroke (2:21.99), 400-yard medley, 1:04.31 first leg split (4:23.78) and the 200-yard freestyle, 26.99 fourth leg split (1:50.59)
• Led off the 400 medley that set a new USD school record and DakotaDome (meters) Pool record
• This is her fifth career Summit League Swimmer of the Week honor, third of the season and second consecutive honor

Male Swimmer of the Week
Trever Brenner, South Dakota State
Fr. | Sioux Falls, S.D.
• Brenner won all four events he swam in and helped the Jackrabbits to a dual win over St. Cloud State
• His four wins came in the 200-yard freestyle (1:43.12), 500-yard freestyle (4:47.50), 200-yard medley, 21.01 fourth leg split (1:35.00) and the 800-yard freestyle relay, 1:43.31 fourth leg split (7:05.21)
• His 800-yard freestyle relay team set a new Marshall Center Pool record, breaking a mark set in 1982
• Brenner has won a team-leading 11 events this season
• This is his first career swimmer of the week honor

Female Diver of the Week
Sarah Schank, South Dakota
Sr. | Cottage Grove, Minn.
• Set a season-best in the 1-meter dive with a score of 270.35 while also earning an NCAA Zone Diving qualifying score
• She won the 3-meter dive with a score of 291.45 and earned an NCAA Zone Diving qualifying score
• This is her eighth career diver of the week honor, third of the season and second consecutive honor

Male Diver of the Week
Joey Weber, South Dakota State
Sr. | Omaha, Neb.
• Set team season-bests in the 1-meter and 3-meters dives while also earning an NCAA Zone Diving qualifying mark in the 1-meter dive
• He won the 1-meter dive with a score of 317.70 while winning the 3-meter dive with a score of 316.88. His 1-meter score was the top mark in The Summit League this season
• This is his sixth career diver of the week honor and first of the season
