SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – South Dakota State sophomore Baylor Scheierman netted the first #SummitMBB Player of the Week award of his career, league officials announced Monday. Scheierman put up back-to-back, double-double performances for the Jackrabbits in road wins at Iowa State and Bradley last week.
Scheierman’s first career double-double came in the 71-68 victory over the Cyclones, which was the first victory over a Power 5 program for a league squad this season. He finished with 18 points and 10 rebounds and sealed the victory with his career-high fourth steal of the contest.
The Aurora, Neb., native followed that up with 16 points and a career-high 12 boards in an 88-84 win over the Braves, who are back-to-back Missouri Valley Conference Tournament Champions.
Scheierman finished the two-game stretch shooting 63.6 percent from beyond the arc. He went 3-for-6 against Iowa State and 4-for-5 against Bradley.
