SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – Denver junior Jase Townsend averaged 31.0 ppg in a pair of home games vs. Oral Roberts to claim the first #SummitMBB Player of the Week award of his career, league officials announced Monday.
Townsend scored 27 points in helping keep the Pioneers close in an 88-84 setback in game one. He finished 8-for-20 from the field and 8-for-10 from the foul line. In game two, he dropped a season-high 35 points in another single-digit setback, going 11-for-20 from the field and 4-for-11 from beyond the arc, while making all nine of his free throw attempts.
The Dallas native has reached 20-plus in six games this season and now has a pair of 30-plus point scoring efforts. He ranks fourth in the league in scoring in overall games (19.9/g) and league games (19.2/g).
