SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – Following their performances in the opening weekend of the 2020 volleyball season, South Dakota outside hitter Elizabeth Juhnke was named The Summit League Offensive Player of the Week while Omaha’s defensive specialist Claire Mountjoy earned the accolade on the defensive side.
Juhnke was named to the Dr. Mary Jo. Wynn Invitational all-tournament team after she posted two-match totals of 36 kills, 4.50 kills per set, 28 digs and five services aces to start the 2020 season. To start the tournament, the senior posted nine kills and an assist against Wichita State. Against Missouri State, she matched a career-high with 27 kills on a .300 hitting clip to go along with a career-high five service aces.
Mountjoy helped the Mavericks finish 1-1 in the opening weekend after totaling 36 digs, 5.14 digs per set, four service aces and seven assists in two matches. She opened the season posting 19 digs, an ace and four assists against No. 15 Creighton. Mountjoy then followed with a team-high 17-dig performance in Omaha’s 3-1 victory over Northern Iowa.
