ORU's Obanor collects second #SummitMBB weekly award of the season

Golden Eagle junior averaged 33.0 ppg and 11.0 rpg in road sweep of Omaha to open league play

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – Oral Roberts junior Kevin Obanor was named the #SummitMBB Player of the Week for the second time this season after averaging 33.0 ppg and 11.0 rpg in a pair of double-digit road wins at Omaha, league officials announced Monday.

Obanor helped get the Golden Eagles off to a 2-0 start in league play with a pair of impressive double-doubles that pushed his league-leading total in that category to five. In the opener, he scored a career-high 39 points and pulled down 10 rebounds in the 95-83 victory. The Houston native went 16-for-23 from the field, including a 6-for-11 effort from beyond the arc.

In the 86-75 triumph in game two, Obanor netted 27 points and added 12 rebounds. He continued his torrid shooting, going 8-for-14 from the field and connecting on 3-of-5 attempts from distance.

The preseason All-Summit League pick was one of two Golden Eagles that finished the weekend averaging 30-plus points and shooting better than 60 percent from the field (24-for-37; 65 percent) and 50 percent from 3-point range (9-for-16; 56 percent), joining sophomore Max Abmas with that distinction. Abmas averaged 31.0 ppg and shot 61 percent from the field (22-for-36) and 52 percent from distance (11-for-21).
