SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – Denver junior forward Sydney Sharp and Oral Roberts sophomore goalkeeper Louisa Ramsauer were selected as this week’s TicketSmarter Summit League Women’s Soccer Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week, respectively, league officials announced on Monday.
Sharp and the Pioneers capped a three-match Summit League road tilt with a pair of victories against St. Thomas and Western Illinois, where the Palos Verdes Estates, Calif., native recorded both game-winning goals. Against the Tommies, Sharp found the back of the net in the 67
th-minute after a bouncing ball in the box. Against the Leathernecks, Sharp netted her ninth goal of the season in the 11
th-minute of play. In all, Sharp has scored in each of her last four matches and nine of the 13 matches this season.
Ramsauer posted a 1-0-1 record in the net with a win over South Dakota and a tie against South Dakota State. The Eimeldingen, Germany native logged two saves against the Coyotes in a 3-1 victory and helped the Golden Eagles snap SDSU’s seven-match winning streak, recording seven saves against the Jackrabbits. Ramsauer made three key saves in the final 12 minutes of regulation against the Jackrabbits to send the match to overtime.
