Kansas City’s Wilson, Caldwell sweeps TicketSmarter #SummitWSOC weekly honors

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – For the second-straight week, a pair of teammates collected weekly honors, as the Kansas City duo of senior midfielder Emma Wilson and sophomore goalkeeper Mackenzie Caldwell opened the league campaign with two 1-0 road victories and were named the TicketSmarter Summit League Women's Soccer Players of the Week, league officials announced on Monday. Wilson scored both game-winning goals while Caldwell posted back-to-back shutouts for the first time in her career.

Wilson and the Roos opened league play on the right foot against North Dakota, taking a 1-0 victory. The Omaha, Neb., native sent a screamer in the 20th-minute that went off the UND keeper's hand and into the back of the net for her first-career game-winning goal. Against North Dakota State, Wilson came through once again, this time with a flying header in the 59th-minute of action. In all, Wilson attempted five shot in each contest.

Caldwell posted back-to-back 1-0 road shutout victories against the Fighting Hawks and Bison. Against UND, the Troy, Mo., native faced six shots, making five saves and posted her fourth shutout of her career against NDSU where she made four saves on 12 shots faced. Caldwell's current mark of 7.0 saves per game ranks 13th in the nation.
