SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – What better way to spend the holiday break than picking up a couple of wins? Kansas City notched three wins over the Thanksgiving holiday to extend its win streak. South Dakota picked up its first win over an ACC opponent and South Dakota State downed #15/19 UCLA.

Things to Watch
- Defending regular-season champion South Dakota State finished the 2020-21 season with a 21-4 overall record, a top-25 national ranking and an unblemished 14-0 mark in league play. The Jackrabbits look to continue that success this season with the return of two all-league honorees from last season as well as the 2020-21 Player of the Year redshirt junior Myah Selland.
- Preseason Player of the Year Selland was named to the watch list for the Cheryl Miller Small Forward of the Year Award by Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame and the Women's Basketball Coaches Association. Selland is also one of 50 watch list candidates on the Wooden Award and Naismith Trophy preseason watch lists.
- She led the league last season with 19.2 ppg and ranked third in assists per game (3.8), field goal percentage (.515) and assists/turnover ratio (1/5) on her way to WBCA Honorable Mention All-America accolades.
- Selland along with the Coyote duo of Hannah Sjerven and Chloe Lamb were named to the 2021-22 Becky Hammon Mid-Major Player of the Year Preseason Watch list following impressive 2020-21 seasons.
- Sjerven led the Coyotes with 17.1 points, 9.8 rebounds and 2.2 blocks per game last year. She led the league in rebounds, blocks and double-doubles. Sjerven was also named to the Naismith Trophy preseason watch list.
- Lamb was the league's third-leading scorer last season with 15.8 points, 4.2 rebounds and 2.3 assists per game. She returns for her senior season as the league's top 3-point shooter, sinking 61 3-pointers at a 43.3 percentage from behind the arc.
- Last season Selland and Sjerven were two of five women to be named a finalist for the award.
30-Plus Point Club
- Kansas City defeated UT Arlington on Nov. 28 with the help of Naomie Alnatas' 38-point, seven assists performance. She went 12-for-19 from the field, including 6-for-7 from three-point range, for her second career 35-plus point game.
- Denver's Anna Jackson sunk 10 threes and scored a Denver women's basketball Division I school-record 36 points to lead the Pioneers to an 87-65 win over Texas A&M Corpus Christi on Nov. 26.
- On Nov. 27, South Dakota defeated the ACC's Pitt with the help of Chloe Lamb's career-high 30 points. She went 12-for-23 from the field with 10 of her career-high points coming in overtime.
Nationally Ranked Wins!
- South Dakota State knocked off No. 15/19 UCLA 76-66 during day two of the Gulf Coast Showcase. The Jackrabbits are now 15-33 against ranked opponents in the NCAA Division I era.
Top 25 National Rankings
- The Jackrabbits and Coyotes continue to be ranked in the CollegeInsider.com Women's Mid-Major Top 25 Poll. South Dakota State took hold of the No. 12 spot while South Dakota occupies the No. 21 spot.
- The Kansas City Roos continue to be a topic of conversation in the CollegeInsider.com's poll. The Roos didn't break into the top 25 but are receiving votes in the poll for the second-consecutive week.
- The last time three teams were ranked in the CollegeInsider.com Mid-Major Poll was on Jan. 19 when South Dakota State (2), South Dakota (5) and North Dakota State (22) all made an appearance within the top 25.

NOTING THE PIONEERS
- Denver split the week going 1-1 at their home holiday tournament. The Pioneers started the week with an 87-65 win over Texas A&M Corpus Christi but fell to Wyoming 81-51.
- Anna Jackson paced the Pioneers scoring a Denver Division I record of 36 points. She sunk 10 three-pointers to tie Denver's single-game record and is tied for the second-most by a Summit League student-athlete.
- She led the team to 19 team three-point field goals made, tying the program's DI record. Because of her efforts, she was named to the Denver Classic All-Tournament team.
- Two other Pioneers finished in double figures alongside Jackson. Meghan Boyd had 25 with five three-pointers while Tess Santos finished with 14 points to go with five assists and two steals.
- Uju Ezeudu chipped in five points and pulled down a game-high 10 rebounds in the win.
NOTING THE ROOS
- The Roos are riding a six-game win streak after notching three wins during the holiday weekend over Dixie State, Grambling State and UT Arlington.
- Naomie Alnatas led Kansas City in scoring in all three wins averaging 24.7 ppg, 3.7 rpg and 4.7 apg. She shot 60 percent from the field, including 67 percent from the three-point line.
- In the win over UT Arlington, she went 12-for-19 from the field, including 6-for-7 from three-point range, en route to 38 points. She also dished out seven assists, grabbed four rebounds and tallied three steals.
- Her 38 point game is her second career 35-plus point game.
- In Kansas City's first-ever meeting with Dixie State, the Roos made a season-best 28 field goals on the night, including a season-high-tying eight three-pointers.
- The Roos also committed just eight turnovers during the game, a season-low and tying the program low in the past three seasons.
NOTING THE FIGHTING HAWKS
- The Fighting Hawks picked up two wins this week defeating Brown (65-46) and Siena (71-63).
- Three reached double-figure scoring against Brown for North Dakota. Claire Orth and Kacie Borowicz each tallied a team-high 17 points and five rebounds against the Bears.
- Borowicz went 7-for-12 from the field including 3-for-4 from behind the arc en route to her 17 points. She also added four assists to her stat line.
- Olivia Lane earned a double-double with 11 points and 12 rebounds. She led North Dakota in rebounding and helped outrebound the Bears 51-38.
- Three notched double digits in the win against Siena. Borowicz led UND finishing the night with 18 points and seven assists.
- Orth chipped in 17 points, six rebounds and two assists while Maggie Manson rounded out the trio with 16 points, five rebounds and a pair of assists.
NOTING THE BISON
- The Bison fell 78-57 to Big 12 foe Kansas State. Three Bison reached double digits in the loss.
- Heaven Hamling paced the Bison with a team-high 14 points and a season-best six rebounds. She went 5-for-12 from the field and 4-for-6 from the charity stripe.
- Ryan Cobbins reached double figures for the sixth straight game with 11 points, a team-high seven rebounds and an assist.
- Kadie Deaton rounded out the double-digit trio. She made her fourth start of the season and notched 10 points and went 6-for-6 from the free throw line. She also added six rebounds and a pair of steals to the stat line.
NOTING THE MAVERICKS
- Omaha picked up its first win of the season with a 70-58 defeat of UIC.
- Elena Pilakouta scored a career-high 32 points to go along with eight rebounds to propel the Mavericks to a victory. She was 14-for-18 from the floor and 4-for-5 from the charity stripe.
- Grace Cave was the only other Maverick in double figures as she finished with a career-high 13 points including three three-pointers to go along with three assists.
- Mariah Murdie put together a well-rounded performance as she finished with seven points, a game-high 12 boards and a team-high five assists.
- The Maverick squad shot a season-best 47.2 percent (25-for-53) from the floor and made a season-high 16 free throws.
NOTING THE GOLDEN EAGLES
- The Golden Eagles went 2-0 at their home Thanksgiving tournament defeating Arkansas State (81-62) and Little Rock (74-56).
- Against Arkansas State, Oral Roberts was led by Tirzah Moore and Faith Paramore's double-digit scoring efforts. Moore finished with a career-high 20 points, passing her previous high of nine. She also pulled down six rebounds and dished out a pair of assists.
- Paramore tallied 10 points for ORU, marking the sixth time in her career that she has reached double-digit scoring.
- Four players paced the Golden Eagles in the win over Little Rock. Katie Scott scored 13 points and grabbed five rebounds.
- Moore finished with 13 points, four rebounds, a block and an assist.
- Keni Jo Lippe pulled down a team-leading seven rebounds to go along with 12 points and two steals.
- Hannah Cooper rounded out the double-digit scoring effort with 11 points and grabbed a season-high six rebounds.
NOTING THE TOMMIES
- The Tommies went 0-2 at the Holiday Beach Classic after falling to host Cal Poly (63-51) and North Texas (81-54).
- Against Cal Poly, Erin Norling led the team with an NCAA Division I career-high 16 points. Jade Hill and Kaia Porter added to the effort finishing just shy of double digits with nine and eight points, respectively.
- Jordyn Glenn pulled down a season-best 11 rebounds in the loss, four of which were on the offensive end.
- In the loss to North Texas, Hill led the Tommies with 16 points, six rebounds and four assists.
- Jo Langbehn posted St. Thomas' first Division I double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds.
- Katie Burns was just shy of double digits finishing with nine points.
NOTING THE COYOTES
- The Coyotes went 1-2 at the Paradise Jam falling to Northwestern (73-57) and #23/18 Texas A&M (58-44) but defeating Pitt in overtime 72-61.
- South Dakota's victory over Pitt marks its first win in program history over an ACC opponent.
- Chloe Lamb was named to the All-Tournament team after averaging 20.7 ppg, 3 rpg and 3 apg in three games.
- Highlighting Lamb's efforts was a career-high 30 points in the victory over Pitt. She made 12-for-23 from the field, handed out a trio of assists and pulled down three boards.
- Maddie Krull and Natalie Mazurek rounded out the double-digit scorers for the Coyotes in the win. Krull tallied her first career double-double with 12 points and 10 boards.
- Mazurek finished with a career day of 10 points and six rebounds. She went 4-for-7 from the floor with two three-pointers.
NOTING THE JACKRABBITS
- South Dakota State went 1-1 at the Gulf Coast Showcase. The Jackrabbits fell the opening day to UMass (81-63) but bounced back and defeated #15/19 UCLA (76-66).
- Four players reached double figures to lead the Jackrabbits to the upset victory over the Bruins.
- Tori Nelson and Lindsey Theuninck led the Jacks with 11 points apiece, followed by 10 each from Paige Meyer and Paiton Burckhard.
- Theuninck's nine points came from behind the arc as she was 3-for-4 from the field and sunk two free throws.
- Meyer was 6-for-7 from the free-throw line and 2-for-9 from the field en route to her 10 points against the Bruins. She also finished with six assists and was one of four Jacks to pull down four boards.
- Myah Selland finished with nine points and three rebounds en route to reaching the 500 career rebound milestone.
NOTING THE LEATHERNECKS
- The Fighting Leathernecks move to 5-2 after splitting on the road. They beat Tarleton State (58-54) but fell to Incarnate Word (63-59).
- Danni Nichols paced the offensive effort for WIU against Tarleton State finishing with a game-best 15 points adding four rebounds and two steals.
- Elizabeth Lutz posted a new season-high in both free throws made and attempts going 9-for-10. She finished with 14 points, six rebounds and a pair of steals.
- Evan Zars pulled down a game-high nine rebounds to go along with nine points in the victory.
- Anna Deets had 23 minutes in the game coming off the bench. She chipped in nine points on 3-for-5 shooting from behind the three-point line.
