SDSU's Scheierman nets second TicketSmarter #SummitMBB weekly award of the season

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – South Dakota State guard Baylor Scheierman claimed his second TicketSmarter #SummitMBB Player of the Week award of the season, league officials announced Monday. The Jackrabbit sophomore registered his league-leading fifth double-double of the season at Idaho, then took down Washington State at the buzzer with the No. 1 play on ESPN’s #SCTop10 Saturday.

Scheirman opened the Jacks’ two-game road swing through the Pacific Northwest with a 22-point, 14-rebound performance against the Vandals. He reached his season-high point total thanks to a 7-for-10 effort from the field, including a 3-for-5 showing from beyond the arc.

The Aurora, Neb., native capped the trip with some heroics that drew national acclaim as his step-back 3-pointer at the buzzer lifted SDSU to a 77-74 victory over Washington State. It marked the Jacks’ second win over a Pac-12 opponent in school history and the third victory for a Summit League squad over a Power-5 program this season.

Scheierman finished with 11 points, eight rebounds and three steals against the Cougars as the Jackrabbits improved to 9-3 on the campaign. He finished the week averaging 16.5 ppg, 11.0 rpg, 3.5 apg, while shooting 55 percent from 3-point range.
