Denver’s Beckman, Omaha’s LaVigne notch #SummitWSOC weekly awards

Denver and Omaha both recorded two shutouts last week

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – Denver’s Natalie Beckman and Omaha’s Margaret LaVigne were both key figures in their teams’ success during the opening week of league play and were honored as the Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week, respectively, league officials announced Tuesday.
Beckman earned the second weekly accolade of her career after scoring two goals out of the Denver midfield, including the game-winning goal in the 6th minute in the Pioneers’ 2-0 win against Western Illinois. The Denver, Colo., native also assisted on the second goal in Denver’s first victory and for the weekend, was a part of the midfield that held the Leathernecks to just two shots on goal the entire weekend.

LaVigne was part of a defensive unit that held South Dakota State to two-straight scoreless shutouts. This marked the first time since 2014 SDSU was shutout in two-straight league matches since 2014. Additionally, the St. Louis, Mo., native recorded one shot and logged 220 minutes on the pitch.
