SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – Kansas City’s Melanie Brecka and Maddie Renn secured this week’s Summit League Volleyball Player of the Week awards following impressive efforts to help the Roos to two five-set victories over South Dakota. Brecka was named the offensive player of the week while Renn notched the honor on the defensive end.
 
Brecka led the Roos’ attacking efforts in both five-set wins over the Coyotes. In the first meeting, Brecka notched 14 kills, an assist and 16 points to guide the Roos to a victory. In the second meeting, she hammered down 23 kills on a .232 clip to go along with one assist and a pair of aces to help secure the series sweep. The junior right side hitter totaled 37 kills on the weekend averaging 3.7 kills per set as well as notching 42 points in two matches.
 
Renn helped pace the Roos in securing the series sweep over South Dakota. She led the defense posting a career-high 27 digs in the first meeting with the Coyotes then followed up with a 25 dig performance in the second meeting. She finished with 52 total digs averaging 5.2 digs per set and played a crucial role in holding USD to .161 hitting over the weekend.
