North Dakota’s Wright, Denver’s Parker earn #SummitWSOC weekly awards

UND’s Wright and Denver’s Parker earn accolades after stellar performances

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – North Dakota senior forward Megan Wright was named the Offensive Player of the Week, while Denver senior defender Taylor Parker was named the Defensive Player of the Week, league officials announced Monday.
 
Wright led the Fighting Hawks to a series sweep over Kansas City, helping North Dakota climb out of a 2-0 deficit in game one of the series for the 3-2 victory. In that match, the Mesa, Ariz., native scored twice in the second half to force overtime, ultimately going to UND in the 91st minute.
 
In game two, North Dakota scored in the 79th minute to tie the Roos and force overtime again, where the Fighting Hawks were awarded a penalty kick in the 92nd minute as Wright put the penalty kick away to complete the weekend sweep. In all, Wright picked up six points, recorded nine shots with six on goal and played in 171 minutes.
 
Parker played all 180 minutes of Denver’s series sweep of Omaha in a match-up of the top two teams in league play heading into the weekend. The Aurora, Colo., native led the Pioneers to its eighth clean sheet of the season and its 12th win of league play.
