SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – Western Illinois guard Trenton Massner collected the latest TicketSmarter #SummitMBB Player of the Week awards, league officials announced Monday. The Leatherneck junior averaged 21.0 ppg, 9.0 rpg and 4.5 apg in road wins at North Dakota and North Dakota State.
In Thursday’s 73-68 win over the Fighting Hawks, Massner helped WIU snap a four-game losing streak with 11 points, seven rebounds and a season-high matching eight assists. On the defensive end, he registered a season-high two blocks and matched his season-high with three steals.
In Saturday’s 90-79 overtime win at North Dakota State, Massner played all 45 minutes, matching his career-high with 31 points and adding a season-high 11 rebounds to record his first double-double of the season and third of his career. He went 14-for-25 from the field and tallied three more steals as the Leathernecks won in Fargo for the first time since the 2012-13 season.
